The Trans-Siberian Railway begins in Moscow. A traveller will travel throughout Siberia to Irkutsk, and then to Beijing or Vladivostok. Beijing may be reached by the Trans-Manchurian Railway through Russia or Mongolia and its capital Ulan Bator by the Trans-Mongolian Railway

Constructed between 1891 and 1916, the route starts in Moscow and than cuts the Ural Mountains and Siberia, passes Lake Baikal in the town of Sliudanka and further through Russia to Vladivostok.

The construction of this railway route was started in 1896. The Trans-Manchurian Railway starts at c.a. 300 km away from Lake Baikal in the town of Tatarskaya. Then it passes Mongolia and crosses the border of China running through Harbin to Beijing.
The Trans-Mongolian Railway

The line was constructed between 1949 and 1961. It branches off from the main Trans-Siberian Railway route in Ulan-Ude and runs to Beijing through Mongolia. The route runs mainly through the Gobi Desert.
The Baikal Amur Mainline (BAM)
Route: Moscow - > Tayshet - > Severobaykalsk - > Sovetskaya Gavan

The construction of the line was finished between 1944 and 1946. At the 4483rd km it branches off the main route of the Trans-Siberian Railway and runs towards the northern part of the Baikal through Severobaykalsk to the town of Tinda. It crosses the River Amur and runs to the shore of the Pacific Ocean to the town of Sovetskaya Gavan.
